Child and Family Therapy

Child and family therapy focuses on improving the emotional and behavioural well-being of children and their families. The therapy works by addressing the individual challenges faced by children while also recognising the impact of family dynamics and relationships. Family therapy often involves the entire family unit, including parents, siblings, and sometimes extended family members, in order to promote healing, strengthen relationships, and improve communication. By working together with the family, child and family therapy helps to create a supportive environment where children can express themselves and learn healthier ways to cope with their emotions and challenges.

Child and Family therapy is beneficial in treating any concerns related to the emotional wellbeing of children and/or their family.

This type of therapy works by assessing the concerns experienced by a child in relation to their family unit. A formulation of the factors causing and maintaining these concerns is then presented to parents and/or children. The therapist will then work with both the parents and child to address each maintaining factor through evidenced based techniques that are tailored to the individual family’s needs.
