Childhood neurodivergence refers to a variety of neurological and developmental differences in children. These differences can manifest in a range of behaviours, cognitive patterns, and learning styles. Neurodivergence is an umbrella term that includes conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, dyspraxia, and more.

Signs your child may be neurodivergent

Emotional sensitivity – Experiencing strong emotional reactions to events, both positive and negative.
Sensory sensitivities – Sensitivity to bright lights, loud sounds, or certain textures.
Trouble maintaining attention – Frequently losing focus on tasks or conversations.
Challenges in social situations – Difficulties interpreting body language or following social cues.
Difficulties at school – Finding standard educational methods challenging or unengaging.

Engaging in rituals – Feeling the need to follow specific routines or habits for comfort.
Strong focus on specific interests – Becoming deeply absorbed in particular subjects or activities.
Trouble with organisation and planning – Having trouble prioritising tasks or managing responsibilities.
Disliking change – Difficulty adapting to unexpected shifts in schedule or environment.
Fluctuating energy levels – Having periods of high focus followed by times of mental or physical exhaustion.
